Review

At Packer's Oyster Bar and Lounge at Semiahmoo, you’re likely to hear patrons discussing exotic vacations, ordering limes to go in ice water, or see them relaxing with the latest copy of the Wine Spectator in front of mahogany trimmed windows overlooking the water. Obviously a cut above other lounges, Packer’s also offers an extensive assortment of local beer and wine as well as "a fine cigar selection."

The menu features Northwest cuisine such as Arctic Cod and Chips, Grilled Salmon Sandwiches, Monterey Jack Chicken Burger, Club Croissant, or the Vegetarian Sandwich. Yummy appetizers include Hot Crab Dip, Calamari, Shrimp in the Shell, Thai Beef Skewer, and Oysters on the Half Shell. The food is great and with such a view and atmosphere, it's hard to get much better. The cod was served hot and fresh and the fries were so tasty they hurt. The chef uses interesting spices and the tartar sauce recipe is a secret. Packer's has a variety of desserts that change often. The warmed brownie with cappuccino ice cream and light chocolate sauce was worth the drive from Bellingham and was unfortunately devoured in less than 10 minutes.

The mood is casual but classy. This is the perfect place to end the day after a walk along the beach, whether you came up for the day or a weekend at the resort. Enjoy live music on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings. Try a glass of wine from a local winery, a microbrew, a single malt scotch or an after dinner liquor while lounging in front of the fireplace. Packer's is open until 1 a.m. on weekends, but dinner ends at 10 p.m. on weekdays and 11 p.m. on weekends. Children are allowed until 9 p.m.
