Review

This 100 year old neighborhood park is situated in the heart of Bellingham. Divided into two park areas by Cornwall Avenue and flanked by North and South Park Street most of the park sits below street level surround by vegetation creating a secluded getaway. Houses that face the park benefit from having a view maintained by the city, and an increase in property value over similar houses in the same part of town.

The park is a showcase for native plants and turn of the century tastes in flora and fauna, including heritage bushes and trees like lilacs, rhododendrons, bridal veil, and dogwoods. Most of the bushes have been hollowed out by playful children, creating an interesting play field for hide and seek.

The eastern section of the park has restrooms, and a brand new playground including swings geared towards 3 to 9 year olds. The western section of the park has a playground for younger children, a half court basketball court and fields for soccer. The soccer fields do not have permanent goals, however on any given evening you can find parks and recreational organized soccer practices taking place at the park. Parking in available on the narrow streets of North and South Park.

This is a neighborhood park with a playarea that is only a few years old and a restroom building (no port-o-potties like birchwood). However, the teenagers and homeless make use of the bushes around the park so be careful about letting your little ones wonder in the bushes due to broken bottles. The grass area is a swamp in the winter so only expect to throw frisbee or play soccer in the dry summer months
