Review

Though there may be places in Bellingham where you can get your pizza faster or cheaper, you’ll be hard-pressed to find a one that offers as much quality and as many pizza possibilities as Rudy’s Pizzeria, which boasts over 50 toppings on its menu.

Located next to the Up & Up Tavern on State Street, Rudy’s spacious interior, with its art-lined brick walls, vintage wooden floors and booths hide the fact that it has only been open for five years.

From artichokes to zucchini, you can layer your choice of toppings over the seven kinds of freshly shredded cheese Rudy’s has to offer. But don’t think your table is out of the woods after spending ten minutes deciding between the toppings and cheeses, because there is still the all-important choice between homemade red wine or pesto sauces and a white or whole wheat crust. Now that’s how you work up an appetite!

But that is not to say that all Rudy’s has is selection; the taste and quality of the ingredients is superb. The dough is soft but not too soft, with a perfect firm-on-the-outside/soft-on-the-inside crust. The sauce is pleasantly tangy, as the red wine flavor meshes nicely with a hint of pesto, and the freshly baked toppings pop out between layers of melted cheeses. In addition to pizza, Rudy’s serves fresh salads, pocket pizza, breadsticks, and desserts, and offers a selection of wines and beers on tap. Those looking to save a few bucks should go for the slice/salad/soda combo, an everyday special that dishes out a monster slice of pizza, fresh salad with choice of dressing, and a soda for a competitive price.

Free delivery is available after 5:00 (noon on Saturdays), especially convenient for those who don’t like to burn calories by moving.

Best pizza I've ever eaten outside of Chicago. In fact, I think it's even better than Chicago. I've only experienced Rudy's as takeout, so I can't comment on the atmosphere, though after reading other comments here, I'm tempted to go in and experience the whole banana.

I am the type of person that will give an establishment more than one chance at giving good customer service. I recognize that it is hard to please everyone, however Rudy's gives consistently bad service. The pizza is amazing, they offer vegan options and have whole-wheat and white crust, so it is hard not to go back when those are things you want in a pizza. It has come down to ordering delivery, and even then the person who answers the phone still manages to make me regret giving my business and money to such an establishment. It is ridiculous that nothing has been done about training their employees because across the board, most can agree that they do not know how to treat their loyal customers. Maybe we should all take a stand and write the owner a letter, because two years of reviews claiming their service is sub par hasn't worked.

On Wednesday's Rudy's has a special on one topping pizzas. The price is dramatically reduced on small, medium, and large one topping pizzas. This also happens to be the night where WWU's philosophy club meets up there. So, if you want a good price and good conversation you should hit up Rudy's and philosophy club on Wednesday night at around 5:30ish

I visited Rudy's Pizzeria a couple of days ago to show a buddy from out of town a "typical" Bellingam dinner; pizza and beer. After discovering the amazing thin crust that Rudy's offers, I haven't stopped taking visiting friends for a hearty dinner after a great day of shredding Baker. Super relaxed atmosphere, recycling, cheap beer from the "Up," and most the most diverse topping selection in town make this my "local spot" to share with buddies from out of town.

i went to Rudy's a couple of years ago. and I've been eagerly anticipating my next visit. The pizza is excellent and the environment is relaxed. I'm planning on taking my pizza crazed boyfriend there for valentines day (he's never been).

I have to agree with the other reviewer that the service is terrible. The driver couldn't find my house (which is just a normal house on a normal street), and then wouldn't try to deliver the pizza again, claiming that my house didn't exist.

Pizza is delicious, but the service is terrible. Staff all acts irritated and bored, so don't go there if you are looking for a friendly dine-in experience. Call in to order and you will be fine.

My friend says that Rudy's has the best pizza in town and likes their pizza pockets. I just ordered delivery from them and, personally, I like Pizza Time better. Their sauce is good, but I don't care for their crust.
