Off the beaten path, surviving by word of mouth is a Bellingham institution: Morrie’s Drive In. Famous for their Triple Deluxe burger that keeps the parking lot full at lunch time -- this old school drive in serves up shakes, fries, onion rings and burgers 6 days a week in North Bellingham. The Triple Deluxe is 3 patties of beef, cheese, lettuce and onion -- its depiction can be seen in plywood adhered to the outside wall and is their premium burger -- followed closely by the double deluxe double which contains 2 patties and double cheese. You can also get corn dogs, fish and chips, onion rings, and fries along with a variety of homemade ice cream shakes (chocolate, strawberry, pineapple, etc…)

There are two ordering option, go to the outside window, order and wait in your car to be called by number via the public address system. Or, go inside the air conditioned seating area, order at the counter, and wait to be served at the table. The Building has seen better days, for example the roof leaks -- temporarily fixed by plastic cups hanging from eye hooks in the cleaning. The bathrooms are to be avoided. However, the floor is clean, the tables sturdy, and the service quick. The burgers are made to order, they come out fast and the vegetables are fresh -- all for roughly the same price as a fast food chain. Bus your own table, and leave the try on the counter

Twenty years ago Morris served Fast Food Chinese, a culture mix of Chinese food along with Burgers and Fries; you could order BBQ pork and a hamburger, however today the Chinese food has been dropped from the menu, though the building, location, and name haven’t change -- not even a new roof.

I'd driven past this place at least 100 times without ever entering based mostly on their outward appearance. It seems a tad run-down but that's probably due more to the fact that they've been a Bellingham institution for a number of years. The burgers are decent, better than Boomer's. The service was fast and friendly. And the prices are very reasonable.

All in all, if I were to suggest a quick, greasy place to get a bite to eat, Morrie's would be pretty high on my list.
