Review

The first thing that ought to be said about Anthonys, and then forgotten, is that the restaurant is part of a chain. Bellinghamsters, and Northwesterners for that matter, are known for their scorn for all things corporate, and chain restaurants, and anything that is not unique and individual. In this case, it is simply high quality successfully duplicated in Bellingham’s installment of this Northwestern seafood restaurant.

Founded in 1975, the first Anthonys came to the waterfront of Lake Washington in Kirkland. As the company spread throughout the Puget Sound region, the hallmark of their restaurants has been waterfront fine dining with local wine and seafood. If you’re a seafood and salt water fan like myself, that strikes a warm chord in your heart.

The Anthonys in Bellingham is located next to the Marina on Bellingham Bay, on the same slice of land as the Bellwether Hotel and the Marina Restaurant. The view is of small sailing vessels and other watercraft and a good place to go to remind yourself that Bellingham is a port city.

Anthonys is also an excellent place to bring guests from out of town who want to experience Northwest fare, for the menu is populated with NW classics like clam chowder, Pacific Salmon, Dungeness crab, Oysters and Halibut. Dishes also include manila clams, NW mussels and Lingcod. Interestingly enough, Anthonys is their own supplier of seafood, having formed a separate seafood company with the sole purpose of providing the company with fresh seafood. To keep the authentic NW flavor, the company also offers specials in season, depending on the local supply of fish and shellfish or fruits for desserts.

The dining experience at Anthony's will be pleasing and reliably high quality -- the staff is courteous and professional, the view is great, décor is tasteful and inoffensive and the food is well prepared and local. The price won’t break the bank but if you want to dine on the waterfront and you’re a little light in the wallet, consider going from 4:30-6pm to take advantage of the 4-course sunset dinners.

Directions

If you can figure out how to get on Roeder Ave (drive towards the water from anywhere in downtown Bellingham until you can't go any further and take a right) then take it north towards the Marina. Bellwether Way doesn't really jump out at you but if you've gotten to where all the boats are, you've gone to far. I always look for the Coast Guard Station. Turn there!

I'm from San Diego and recently moved up to Bellingham, and Anthony's was the restaurant I was told to attend. It was amazing, the staff was extremely polite and offered all sorts of suggestions to me about what to get off the menu, but also other places in Bellingham that I had to make sure I knew about. It is a bit pricey, but honestly, it was worth every penny.
I support them 100%.

I have mixed feelings for Anthony's. I think they are overpriced but I do love their halibut and clam chowder as well as the delicious sourdough bread. I am also very disappointed by the noise level. It does ruin the ambiance and any kind of romantic feel to the place. I sometimes feel like I'm in a warehouse when I'm there and the service is extremely slow at least on the weekends. Only go if you have hours to kill.

I was visiting from Vancouver, B.C. where I was born and have lived for over 50 yrs.
Your cedar plank salmon dinner is the nicest
salmon dinner I have ever eaten, and I love nearly all west coast fish.
The restaurant has a great atmosphere,
service was excellent!

We really enjoy Anthony's. It is a little noisy, but on a Saturday afternoon it's great. We enjoy sitting outside withe the kids and watching the boats. They have a good children's menu that is given on the back of a children's book that you can hold onto during the course of your meal. My kid's have dairy/egg/nut allergies and they are able to have the Fish and chips there. I truly enjoy the Mambo Ahi Salad. It is a delicious salad with raw tuna on it and a wonderful dressing - lots of food and reasonably priced.

I really enjoy your restaurant...however, I have heard on numerous occasions that the employees get taken for granted and taken advantage of, and are not treated as fairly as they should be. You should really improve this because they do a fantastic job.

MY step-daughter and was up here from Vegas, we brought them here for seafood experience, to our dismay, we waited for our orders for an hour and we even have kids with us that are so hungry, and their food is on the EXTREMELY expensive side. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant.

I have tried this over priced restaurant two times now. It won't happen again. I felt as if I were eating in a warehouse.Loud and cold. I had Salmon once and their fish and fish and chips. Both failed to impress me.I have had better meals in far less expensive restaurants. What a waste of time and money.
