Review

After enjoying a cocktail in the Sunset Lounge during our stay at Hotel Bellwether, my companion and I headed into the hotel's Harborside Bistro Restaurant for dinner. It is an elegant, warm, and spacious dining room surrounded on two sides by glass windows with wonderful views of Bellingham Bay, Lummi Island, and the marina.

While the menu offers something for everyone, including duck, lamb, chicken, and sirloin steak entrees, the true seafood lover is in for a treat with entrees including swordfish, lobster salad, shrimp, salman, halibut. I enjoyed the Chicken Breast Piccata--lightly breaded and topped with lemon, parsley, capers, and a white wine sauce--which came with a fresh spinach salad. My companion tried the seafood special, Mahi mahi - a tropical Hawaiian game fish. All entrees come with vegetables and potatoes, in some tasty form or other.

The restaurant also has an extensive wine list with both domestic wines and a large selection of European reds and whites. Though we did not have desert, our waitress sorely tempted us with a light lemon cream pie or triple chocolate cake. While prices are above-average for Bellingham, they are not unreasonable. You get what you pay for--excellent cuisine, professional service, and an intimate dining experience.

I would be remiss at this point if I did not mention the restaurant’s outdoor terrace and glass-enclosed outdoor dining area overlooking the bay--an ideal place to go after an afternoon walk along the beach. I’m looking forward to coming again, only this time to wine and dine on the outdoor terrace while watching the summer sun set over Lummi Island.

Locals and out-of-towners alike should also keep an eye out for special events at the Harborside, such as Sunday brunches, Mother’s Day specials, 4th of July cook-outs, and more.

Harborside Bistro is a wonderful experience, and I have had several memorable occasions there. Tami cannot even spell "notice" correctly, let alone give an honest resturant review. For spectacular views and food, please check this place out.

Well it was mine and my wifes 15th wedding anniversary! I have to say we were very disappointed with the food and the service! I think they precook the food and keep it hot my chicken was so dry and salty I could'nt eat itmy wife had salmon and same thing it was horrible the worst meal I've ever had, reading other reviews and I have to agree the owner is a physchopath by the way they charge us for both meals even know we told them about our disappointment.

The Bistro is our family's favorite-the place we go when we visit our hometown after driving up from Seattle. Whether we are on the deck in the summer, or in the richly paneled, cozy bar in the winter...it is enjoyable for all ages...including my spry uncle's 90th birthday dinner tonight. Excellent food, value and service. (And they treated my Uncle to a special dessert to his total delight.) Thank you.
