Kuru Kuru Sushi provides a fast, high quality substitute to tradition sit-down Sushi restaurants with its unique conveyor belt approach. Patrons sit down at the bar that stretches the length of the restaurant and pick from sushi that travels in front of them on the conveyor belt. From an open kitchen behind the bar sushi is prepared constantly. The sushi travels past on colored plates, and each plate on average hold three roll -- the price of the sushi is denoted by the color of the plate. The cost of the meal is tallied at the end of the meal by counting the number of plates.

Sit-down Sushi restaurants typically require twenty minutes from the time you enter till the time you start eating -- partially from their order and wait for preparation mentality. They also require you to order the whole roll at one time (6 to 8 pieces). In the past I was unwilling to experiment staying with my tried and true favorites of California Roll and Spicy Tuna. However, at Kuru Kuru Sushi I find myself experimenting new things, because I can see them without having order them, plus the cost of making a mistake is minimum. In fact trying new things at Kuru Kuru Sushi has changed how I order at tradition sushi restaurants. Plus, I can eat within an hour, which makes having sushi within my one hour lunch time a possibility.

Kuru Kuru Sushi serves Nigiri-sushi, Maki-sushi, fruit, squid and seaweed salad, and miso soup. There are limited options for children, which might have a hard time seeing the conveyor belt from the bar. The most popular thing is to choose from the conveyor belt, however you can special order or get take out. They can comfortable seat up to parties of four, bigger parties will not be able to sit at the conveyor belt, and sitting so many at the bar limits conversation.

The restaurant is in one of Bellingham’s nicer buildings along the harbor, in a corner location. It is well lit very clean and the open kitchen is a nice touch especially when you consider they are preparing fresh raw food. Most for the time there are three to five sushi chefs working hard to keep the conveyor belt stocked with plates.

The only local sushi that you can see before you eat it. I love this place. The plate colors mean each dish is a certain cost and two of the plate colors are remarkably close so watch out for that? Best to go early evening or off-lunch hours and sit at the bar. There are even dessert items (non-fish) as well as a menu that I never need to order off of. This place makes sushi alot less scary because I can see it all right there and ask questions of the guys behind the bar

Just a fantastically fun place to eat and the fact that it is just about the best sushi in town is a real bonus! Better hurry up and grab a plate off the conveyor line before your neighbor takes your lunch.

My new favorite Sushi place in Bellingham. The open kitchen and quick access to a lot of Sushi makes this place great for lunch.

I had a hard time finding sushi I liked in Bellingham. I tried everything in the area and was not happy until I heard about Kuru Kuru. The conveyor belt means no waiting time and no hassle. Though they don't have some of the exotic sushi I wish for, the convenience and decent prices makes up for it. Friendly chefs and staff. Clean place with good lighting and easy parking. I am now a return customer

Since moving to B'ham 6 years ago, I have tried a number of the local sushi places. While OK, none have ever really fit the bill.. Kuru Kuru is a fresh experience for sushi lovers and newbies alike. Instead of buying an entire 6-8 piece roll of something and maybe liking it, you can try multiple plates of 2-3 pieces and spend the same amount. I like a good Spider roll, but 8.50 at most places means that might be all I eat. Here, you can get a 4 piece Spider Roll for $3.50, and then try something completely different for $2.00. The atmosphere is relaxed; they leave you to choosing after getting your drink order, and the sushi chefs will answer any questions and will even make sure the type of sushi you want gets made if it's not on the belt. They'll even give the portion straight to you so there's no chance of it getting grabbed up.. Definately a place to try at least once; odds are you'll be back.
