This is my favorite area to mountain bike in Bellingham -- there's a little bit for everyone here. To get to the trails, take I-5 exit 252 in Bellingham, then turn southeast on Samish Way and head up the hill. Lake Padden is a couple miles ahead on your right.

A gentle 2.6-mile loop suitable for riders of all ages and skill levels runs around the lake. For the more daring, plenty of mud, logs, roots and switchbacks can be found on the trails to the east. From the sign at the southeast end of the park, turn to your left and follow the trail for about a mile until you reach the power lines. Go straight under the power lines and follow the trail through the woods. The trail will come to a "T" after a quarter mile. For the really daring, take the next left and follow the trail around, staying right on the turns. You'll be challenged by some hardcore grades with some fun switchbacks. After about four or five switchbacks, take a left turn and follow the trail up the next hill, where you’ll find more good drop-offs and tight turns. This trail will eventually take you back to the parking lot.

Watch out -- the second part of this ride is one of the few places that I've done and end-O. If you don't take the left turn, you will eventually end up on the trail that you came in on. For the intermediate rider, continue straight past the turnoff to the more advanced track. You will be going up the same stretch the advanced rider would be coming down on. Stay to the left on all the turns and follow the trail around. Both trails loop around to where you started.

I haven't been muddin with my bike in a while. This Singletrack Loop is perfect to bring my skills back to par. It has all the fun in one. There is some other sweet sections I've seen around too. Excited to find time off for the group ride.

this place is where I have been coming to for years. I highly recommend it for jogging or walking!! very safe to go by yourself! The playground and big baseball fields are also a plus. This park is like a five in one!
