I shop at everybody's at least twice a month, due to the awesome cheese selection, good beer, cheap milk and the usual groceries I forget while doing my "big" shopping.
However, after today, I will NOT be going back. Every time I have been in there, I have been subjected to large dose of Rude by Mr. Margolis. Not just "I'm a doddering old hippie dude" spacey kind of rude, bur rather a straight-up-snubbed type of ignored, with a good heap of "why is this person asking me for cheese/salami, do I look like I want to help?" kind of an attitude.
Why, I can only guess, I go out of my way to be polite (as this IS my neighborhood, and I like to make friends) when I do speak to anyone present, and I don't act like an ass**** tourist like we get on Hwy 9 a lot. My only guess is that I am a young female and the owner finds this to be a personal slight, preferring to talk only to my husband - as in, asking him what I want, handing my change to him, and ignoring anything I may say...well, sometimes when I do get a response, I get a snappish, rude remark as I did this afternoon while buying cheese (apparently the difference between 3/4" and 1" is a very huge distinction in cheese slicing needs and you should NEVER call a bit less than an inch an inch with Mr.Margolis, lest you be snarked about it).
I wish I could keep shopping here, I used to love to go to Everybody's when I was a kid and get ice cream, but I have been so rudely treated there that I will wait until new owners take over...if they ever do.
