Review

If you have only one opportunity to eat in Lynden, definitely make it the Dutch Mothers. This restaurant will not only feed you really well, but also give you a taste of Holland with it’s charming atmosphere and friendly staff.

When you enter the restaurant you are greeted by friendly wait staff in traditional attire (even wooden shoes) and transported to a Dutch village. The interior of the restaurant resembles a village with each seating area decorated like rooms of a house or even an interior courtyard complete with working fountain and skylight. Photographs of tulips and windmills abound to help set the tone. The rooms come in a variety of sizes and can accommodate small groups and parties to large banquets. Their banquet room can seat 120 people. Kids are welcomed with crayons and their own special menu. Adults can choose from a large selection of breakfast, lunch and dinner items. Pot roast, Chicken, Fish and chips, Sausage and porogies, salads, sandwiches and traditional Dutch lunches are all served. Portions are generous so make sure you bring your appetite. Tuesday evenings is family buffet night. The real treat of this restaurant comes when the main meal is over, which you may just want to skip and go straight to the dessert. The desserts temp you as you enter the restaurant with fresh made pies, pastries and even espresso available for carry out. The deep dish pies use locally grown berries, the cream that is used is REAL and that’s what makes the difference. With selections like whipped cheesecake, dish apple pie and Edaleen Ice Cream you can’t go wrong.

Make sure you allow a little extra time or adjust your meal schedule earlier or later-- you may have to wait as this restaurant is extremely popular with both locals and visitors alike. With the quality service, great atmosphere, good main courses and great desserts it certainly wouldn’t be a stretch to proclaim Dutch Mothers the best restaurant in Lynden.

Some-Kinda-Vunderba... Varied, delicious, well presented dishes.Kostumed/Kurteous staff.Detailed farm/lace decor. Save tummie room for fruity pies and pastries. Remember to pack your own tabasco sauce.

I agree with SZ, the atmosphere at Dutch Mothers is fun and almost Disney-like with their attention to detail. Too bad they don't even put one-fourth of that attention to their food. I anticipated my order of perogies and European sausage to be a Dutch experience. Instead I received the same perogies one can find in the frozen food section of your local grocer and a small pile of canned green beans! Not very tasty, not a generous portion, not even very hot and totally over priced. I would not recommend dining here if you're interested in a good meal.

Food arrived cold. Very disappointing. 4-for aesthetics, 1-for food quality.

I want to look at a menu online before I come to the restaurant. Can you put your menu up for everyone to see?
Thanks

Your website shows your hours of operation as Monday-Saturday from 6am to 10pm. We were there Tuesday, Aug 15 at 6pm and the sign on the door said you were closed at 5pm. You might want to change your website to coincide with the notice on the door.
