From I-5, take Birch Bay-Lynden exit number 270. Drive west to the first stop sign. Turn left on Portal Way. Drive 1.3 miles south. Grandview Golf Course will be on your left.

Description:
It's no wonder that the mascot for Grandview Golf Course is a duck. With water coming into play on virtually every hole, you'll want to make sure you bring your ball retriever and plenty of extra balls when playing this popular 6,100-yard course.

Grandview is a flat, easily walkable course that features wide tree-lined fairways, numerous ponds and creeks, challenging greens and a few well-placed sand traps. Among the four par 5s, four par 3s and 10 par 4s, are several "birdie-able" holes.

Golf carts are available, but call ahead during the winter months as the course tends to be too wet to allow carts. Off-season play also presents the added challenge of an abundance of casual water throughout the course. Plan on wearing water-resistant shoes, socks, pants and anything else you can find as the course can be very wet and muddy.

On the flip side, when the course dries out you can expect excellent play with the added benefit of at least an additional 20 yards roll on your shots. Some of the more interesting holes you'll want to take note of include:

Holes 1 and 10. Both are par fours doglegs to the left. Each has well-placed sand traps and water which could present problems on your approach to the green. Hole 7 is the most difficult hole on the course. It is a long 516-yard par 5 with water all along the right side of the fairway, a creek to cross and pond behind a small undulating green. Hole 14 is an interesting dogleg right with water and sand coming into play. Hole 17 is a short par 3. The catch is that if your tee shot doesn't reach the green, your ball will most likely be "swimming with the fishes" as you must hit your tee shot over a pond.

Grandview is an excellent intermediate course. It offers easy walking with a challenging layout for both beginning and experienced golfers. After your round, take advantage of the friendly pro shop to replace the balls you may have lost, or hit the restaurant for something to eat.
