Description:
If you're looking for a quick and inexpensive place to practice your golf game, then Ferndale's Riverside Golf Course is the place for you.

As you approach the course on Riverside Drive keep an eye out for golfers and golf balls to your left as the first hole borders the road and stray shots tend to fly in your direction. Riverside is a par 36 nine-hole course and, as it's name suggests, located right on the banks of the Nooksack River. This presents some challenges and opportunities. The challenges arise when the river rises and the course has a tendency to be underwater in the fall, winter and spring months. When the water is down the course features some interesting holes which wind around local businesses, wetlands, ditches and ponds and the river. Watch out for the Dairy Queen roof and Scottish Lodge swimming pool on number two! Some of the opportunities include the river habitat scenery and wildlife. Bunnies, snakes and other river animals abound on the flat course.

The greens are generally spongy and fairways mowed long, so stopping your ball is usually not a problem. During dry periods this can equate to at least an extra 25 to 50 yards roll on your drives. You typically don't need a tee time to play which is nice for a spur of the moment golf urge. Riverside can be viewed from southbound I-5 which also adds a little rumble to your tee shot on the 9th hole. Beginners and those who have difficulty walking courses will find this course just their speed. Riverside also has a small restaurant to help fill your hunger needs.

NOTE: As you approach the course on Riverside Drive keep an eye out for golfers and golf balls to your left as the first hole borders the road and stray shots tend to fly in your direction.
