Nancy Steele

My passions are music and writing, two closely related areas. A pianist since childhood, I moved to Bellingham in 1980 to pursue my dream of earning a music degree in piano performance. After years of practicing and more practicing, I successfully fulfilled that dream, graduating in 1985.

Since then, I have taught piano, composed music, performed locally for holiday crafts fairs, weddings, and other special events, and recorded "Shimmering Waters", a CD and cassette of soothing flute and piano music featuring Sage Waters, flutist and myself (please check out for more information).

I became interested in writing while working part-time for my spouse, Rick Steele, a Bellingham CPA who owns his own business. Inspired by writing client spotlights for the firm's quarterly newsletter, I sought additional writing opportunities. Several years later, I began writing classical music reviews and advances for the Bellingham Herald. Following that, I wrote press releases and newsletter articles for the Mount Baker Theatre; start-up business profiles and features for Business Pulse Magazine; classical music performances (and other topics) for the Every Other Weekly; and press releases, newsletters, and brochures for a variety of small business owners.

I've started my own business, Personalized Writing Service, which offers clients copy editing, proofreading, newsletter, brochure and Website content writing; promotional and marketing materials and press releases.
